My classroom is a safe space for students to work through their challenges and emotions. We find ways to keep making progress toward learning goals while allowing students to take the time to be patient with themselves.
Creating ASL and Deaf Culture crafts while we take a brain break will keep students focused on topics without realizing they are continuing to learn.
Students will be able to step away from the structured lesson of the day and create something. Students will research and design their own work visiting topics we might not get a chance to cover in class. In order to do this, we need the project supplies like coloring books, resin, pens for rock painting, snacks, and fidget toys,
Teaching students about managing their emotions while teaching them about the Deaf is a win-win situation in American Sign Language class. Students can draw parallels from their lives and create intentional works of art to manage emotions.
