Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher, I have realized that having students make gifts for their families is very important. Since I teach in a Title I school where most families range from low-middle socio-economic status, I must provide materials to help aid in gift giving.

The goal is for my students to be creative and inspired while creating crafts for their families and foster a love of generosity.

The wooden crafts: flowers, hearts, snowflakes, and ornaments can be used for winter as well as spring projects. We can use the student's school photos and be able to decorate them. This will give my students a sense of pride in their work and feel true joy of giving toward others. The white bags will be decorated and used to house the student's creations.

Other supplies are needed as well. I am in need of envelopes to send home important paperwork such as progress reports and report cards. Self Seals are important since the seals contain gluten and I am allergic. The Post-It Flags are for the Teacher's Manuals so I can quickly be ready for implement the lessons. The Rubber fingers are to help save my fingers from nasty paper cuts while I sort student papers. I am hoping this will help!

I have been teaching for more than 10 years and know that the BEST pencils are Ticonderoga. Students get 2 sharpened pencils a week. So, the class goes through them quite quickly.

I love having a paper cutter from my last project and thought it would be wonderful to have another one for home use. I do a lot of work on my laptop at home and would love a foldable lap desk.
