Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are my kids. I feel like they are family! My classes consist of two cores, one of which is an ELD class of 24 students levels 1 and 2. My goal as their teacher is to foster a classroom environment where students get opportunities to be challenged, express themselves, learn from each other, and feel safe.
I pride myself on giving my students a classroom atmosphere that gives them opportunities to feel free to be their own person as well as grow academically and socially.
My students often tell me how much they enjoy working on classroom projects and being able to present their work. Students leave my class feeling proud of their accomplishments.
This year, I have decided to challenge myself as a teacher to come up with even more ideas and projects to keep learning interesting and exciting. They have created canopic jars using plaster and paint to accompany their reports and presentations on Ancient Egypt.
My Project
Students will create embroidery keepsake frames after testing. Students will relax while gaining confidence using their creative skills. I feel that students need to feel safe after testing and what a better way to unwind and gain self-esteem and confidence in themselves than by creating something beautiful. My project will allow my students to reflect back on testing and make a positive connection. They will think back on their beautiful picture frame that helped them relax and that they made with their own two hands. Please help us make this project a reality and help my student craft for relaxation.
