Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students range from Freshmen to Seniors, all with Learning Disabilities/Dyslexia. They require multi-modes of input to learn. They are all part of the Multisensory Structured Literacy Program, which is a highly structured program providing intensive support in Reading in a small group setting. This program uses many styles of learning to help students who are either non-readers or far below their grade level.
These resources will not only engage students in their reading journeys, but will also expose them to materials/technology they may never get a chance to try.
With the Mug Press, Heat Press, and Infusible Ink, I want to motivate students to practice their reading and learn new words. The students will create mugs/tumblers, shirts, and other apparel with the words they know and ones they have learned. With the inkjet printer, they will be able to print out their own images to create their own stickers and to transfer it to apparel with the heat transfer printable vinyl.
I want students to be excited about their learning and this is a way that they can have fun and be proud of their learning and progress. These materials will positively impact their motivation which will help improve their reading skills. Thank you in advance for your support.
