Crafting Connections: Empowering Students Through Crochet in Our Maker Space!
Help me give my students crocheting materials for our school's maker space! Crocheting can be therapeutic for many students and is a life long skill that I'd love to be able to share with my students!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
In our diverse K-8 campus, fostering inclusivity and providing avenues for creative expression is paramount. Our library and its dynamic maker space, aims to cater to the varied needs and interests of all our students. The request for Woobles Easy Peasy Yarn kits and additional yarn supplies is particularly significant, especially considering the presence of our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program, which serves many students with autism.
By incorporating crocheting materials into our maker space, we're not only offering an opportunity for skill development but also providing a therapeutic outlet for our diverse population of students.
Crocheting has shown remarkable benefits in promoting relaxation, focus, and sensory regulation, making it an ideal activity for students across the neurodiversity spectrum.
