My Project

In the heart of our diverse classroom, a transformative journey unfolds for English as a New Language (ENL) newcomers. Seeking to empower these young minds, my Donors Choose Project seeks support for essential art supplies – crayons, scissors, art kits, and glue.

Many of my students arrived in the United States only three or four months ago, facing the challenges of adapting to a new language and education system.

Art becomes their universal language, a means to express beyond words. Crayons represent the hues of their emotions, scissors facilitate exploration, and art kits with glue become instruments of creativity and connection.

For those with interrupted formal education, the transition is daunting. Art, however, creates a sense of belonging, offering a space where their unique stories can be celebrated. The resulting art projects serve as windows into the rich tapestry of their diverse backgrounds.

Beyond aesthetics, these supplies play a vital role in language acquisition. Art projects serve as dynamic language laboratories, allowing students to practice English vocabulary, fostering communication skills, and building confidence in self-expression.

Support for this project is an investment in the empowerment of young minds navigating a new culture and language. By providing crayons, scissors, art kits, and glue, donors offer more than tools; they provide the means for these students to create a brighter, more colorful future – a future where their voices, once silenced, can now resonate through the strokes of a paintbrush.
