My Students

My students are very talented and eager to learn. Although many students are reading below their grade level, every effort is made throughout the school, and especially in my Performing Arts class, to make Reading relevant, fun, engaging, and presented in a way that makes students love to want to read.

My students love to read, sing, act, dance, and play instruments.

Teaching them about Black History provides our students with wonderful role models who persevered in harsh conditions. They will read about great African Americans who made a difference, then present who they researched in first person perspective, dress as that person, and present artifacts that will help us to better understand the life and contributions of that person.

My Project

Students will research notable African Americans, then summarize their report, presenting in first person narratives of their selected person. Students will use the books purchased, along with utiliting research inquiry skills to complete their biography report at home and at school.

Students will orally present in the "CPD Living African American Museum!

The titled name sign with a caption and attire will be the main idea, and the three artifacts selected, including a book or picture, will be used as supporting evidence to support who they are.

Students also have a performance based task where they will recite a poem, a quote, sing a verse of a song, or perform a dance.
