This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The demographics of my school consist of 65% Black students, 30% Hispanic or Latino students, 2% White students, 11% English language learners, and 33% of students who have special needs.
Most students come from low-income households or live in foster homes and shelters.
Many families are single-parent households and working families. We are a Title I school in Harlem. All of our students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch daily. The students at my school are a mixture of different types of learners. My students come from a diverse community.
My hope is for all the students at my school to get the materials they need throughout the whole school year!
My Project
While a picture is worth a thousand words, so is the gift of a coat. It says "I care, I care about you in so many ways you can not even imagine. You matter!" As well as so so much more. During these hard times, parents and children are struggling. Please help me put some warm coats on my students.
A coat is a perfect gift this season.
All students need to be warm when they go to school, go outdoors for recess, and when they catch the bus home. The coats will help keep all of my students warm when they are outside, and the security of knowing their new winter coats will keep them warm.
This year especially, when money is extra tight, the gift of a coat goes farther than it used in the past. Many of my students have siblings and extended family that they live with. These coats will get good use. Thank you for your consideration in helping me raise my part of the village!
