Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom library is a place for students to relax and cozy up with a good book. Through the purchase of a rug and bookshelves, we will have a cozy and safe space to store our books. My students love to read about people, places, animals, and new ideas from the world around us. It is my goal as an educator to share a love of reading with my students.

Reading in a safe and cozy environment can elicit a love for reading and a sense of wonder in students.

My students are young and still learning about the types of books they like. I am hopeful that by providing them with this serene space, they will be more apt to read and share books with their friends. It is one thing to enjoy a good book, but to discuss it with peers brings about a deeper understanding of what was read. This will help my students truly develop the skills of becoming scholars who are literate and curious.
