My Students

The best possible thing I could do for my students is to help them grow and learn in a room full of compassion, positive relationships and a feeling of comfort and safety.

My students often times come from traumatic home lives and need a place to escape.

They deserve the comfort and positive atmosphere that flexible seating could bring into our 1st grade classroom. These kids WANT to learn and I can't imagine a better environment for them to grow in than one surrounded by compassion, safety and the comfort of flexible seating.

My school is in the heart of a large city. Our teachers are trauma informed in order to help our students who might be struggling with factors outside their control that affect learning. Help me find things THEY CAN CONTROL and feel confident knowing that those things will always be there. My school can be described as urban and many of our students come to school hoping to escape from daily troubles at home.

My Project

Take a second to imagine the optimal environment for comfort, collaboration, learning, and productivity. You’re probably not thinking of the stifling rows of desks and harsh fluorescent lighting that dominate most classrooms today, but something refreshingly different, with enough structure to support learners but enough flexibility to adapt to unique needs and preferences.

Ultimately, the goal of flexible seating is to better engage students and empower them with choices by providing diverse seating options.

Flexible seating facilitates student-centered, collaborative learning, fosters a positive classroom community, and even promotes healthy, kinesthetic learning.

We would love to add the coffee table to our carpet area for reading and writing space and the counter height table and chairs to our writing area.
