My Students

Reading opens up a whole new world to readers. My students can visit many places just by opening up a good book.

My students are very active and are eager to learn.

We are still learning how to read, and are very excited when we are able to read something new. Our school is small, but we are close and everyone works for the students. The school works hard to involve families in every student's learning. Our class is an inclusion classroom where special needs students are learning along side their peers. Two teachers work together to provide every student with what he/she needs to learn to read.

My Project

With our beanbag chairs and area rug, the students will have a place to enjoy reading. They will be able to curl up with a good book and imagine being in the story and in another place. This area will be a comfortable place for kids to read on their own or with a buddy to build their reading skills.

Imagine yourself in a space that lets you relax and enjoy a good book, and now picture a child being able to have that same feeling.

Good readers need practice, but sometimes it is hard to get a child to want to read. With a great place to read, my students will be eager to practice reading. When a child is excited about reading, they will foster a life-long enjoyment for reading.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
