Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are greeted at the door every single morning. They are asked how their day is and they immediately run to greet their classmates. They are reminded throughout the day that they are role models, as they are constantly setting the example for others.

My classroom is full of 26 energetic students who see the bright side in everything they do.

They come from a low-income neighborhood and many from Spanish-speaking families. Although they come from a low-income neighborhood, they have a tremendous amount of potential to be leaders one day!

My Project

My students are in need of a new rug and weighted blanket for their reading/cozy corner. Currently, we have carpet squares, which split apart and move around causing a safety hazard for my very mobile first graders.

This rug would allow my students to become comfortable while reading a good book!

The weighted blanket would allow my busy bodies to feel a sense of comfort while they are reading and give them a feeling of relaxation.

These two additions to our classroom would help to encourage my students to find a book and get comfortable, while enhancing their reading abilities and expanding their knowledge of books.
