Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Do you remember how uncomfortable it is to sit on plastic chairs for long periods of time? Your feet start to fall asleep and your tailbone starts to ache. Now imagine if you were a student struggling with keeping still and having to sit in one of those stiff things. The level of tolerance is 10-fold having to deal with that dreadful chair. It certainly doesn't encourage coming to school, nor is it very welcoming. We know that flexible seating helps students regulate their emotions and increase their activity levels. All of which improve academic success! My focus is on my students, and they shouldn't be uncomfortable.

The flexible seating arrangements, are one step in my goal of making my classroom student-centered, where collaboration is fostered, creativity begins, and where students are allowed a comfortable place to learn.
