My Project

Throughout my first year of teaching, I have learned that students and engage better when they feel like they are safe and feel motivated. Creating a safe and cozy environment makes the kids feel as if they can open up and vulnerable where they are.

Students enjoy seeing a classroom that looks well put together and like they are stepping in somewhere that is cared for, so they know that they will also be cared for.

I will be getting a new classroom which is much bigger. I would love to have a morning meeting rug where my students can collaborate each morning and discuss our feelings, emotions, and what we are planning to do for the day. The requested flexible seating chairs will give my students a different arrangement from sitting at their desk all day, where they can go and learn and do work in a different area than just there one spot. Lastly, a document camera would be very beneficial to help my students directly see work that they are doing. One thing I have noticed with completing worksheets on the smart board, is that I am always blocking someone from fully seeing. With a document camera I can move out of the way and still solve problems with the kids where they can all see how it should properly be done.
