Because of your generosity, our classroom now has a Tonie box and a collection of Tonie characters, and my Pre-K students are absolutely thrilled.\r\n\r\nWe are using the Toniebox during center time and quiet reading moments. One favorite project has been our \"Storytime Choices\" activity: each student gets to pick a Tonie and listen to the story or song. We then talk about the story, retell parts of it, or act out their favorite scenes. It has been wonderful to see my students practicing listening skills, comprehension, and even early storytelling!\r\n\r\nWhen the Toniebox and characters first arrived, the students were overjoyed! They couldn't wait to explore each character and hear the stories. Some of them were dancing and singing along right away, and others carefully chose which story to listen to first. Their excitement and curiosity made the classroom feel even more joyful and lively.\r\n\r\nYour support has truly made a difference in our classroom. I actually got the supplies before my students started school, but I sure was excited opening all the things. I have told my students that some friends that don't even know them bought all these things for them to use. They got so excited and thought that was just the coolest thing.\r\n\r\nWe use the sensory tubs during center time. So far, they have practiced building muscle tone in their arms just by cutting straws and filling the tubs with the pieces they cut. We have used some cool stuff called pluffle and colored rice in the tubs. They are able to feel the texture difference in those. I have put capital and lower case letters in the tubs with the pluffle and rice. They had to pull the letters out and find the ones that matched. They are having so much fun feeling and burying objects in the tubs while practing some academic skills at the same time. We have also used some of the tools purchased with play-doh as they are building motor skills and making letters and numbers.\r\n\r\nI plan on continuing to use the tub through out the year and switching out the items that are in them. They will continue to play and learn using this fun and engaging center throughout the entire year.","fullyFundedDate":1753408228299,"projectUrl":"project/feel-and-learn/9452575/","projectTitle":"Feel and Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harmon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3741087_orig.jpg?crop=432,432,x168,y384&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720628516533","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3741087"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6066","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":386,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":6066,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Prosperity - Rikard Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Prosperity - Rikard Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/newberry-county-school-district/prosperity-rikard-elementary-school/6066"}
