This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
High school can be stressful due to academic pressures, social dynamics, and extracurricular activities. Our students may travel through difficult dangerous neighborhoods to come to school and are eager to engage in their studies. Our library is one place where they come during their lunch time to read, play games with classmates or find a cozy corner to read.
Comfortable pillow seating in the library provides a welcoming space where students can unwind and de-stress.
Relaxing environments help reduce anxiety and create a calming atmosphere, encouraging students to take a mental break. This can foster a love for reading and creative exploration, which improves literacy and cognitive development. Nonfiction or creative titles, like the ones your students enjoy, become more appealing in a comfortable space. After spending time in the library my students are better able to focus on reading, studying, or working on assignments when they return to class.
