Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a classroom of 4 and 5 year old students who absolutely love books! We are so wonderfully young that we still haven't learned how to read on our own. However, we love read alouds with our favorite teachers and Denver Public Library reading volunteer. We love books on CD and favorite books and authors like Pete the Cat, Dr. Seuss, Eric Carle, Mo Willems, and many more! Having comfy couches will encourage us to share our learning with our peers.

My Project

Providing my students with comfy couches will encourage my students to read books together in the library. They will be able to develop pre-reading skills by sitting with their friends and sharing their favorite parts of the stories. The listening center will bring books to life as students listen to their favorite stories on CD along with their friends.

When students feel comfortable and safe, a lot of learning will take place.

I can envision my students sitting together, looking at pictures, and sharing their knowledge with one another. Buddy reading will become one of their favorite activities on their beautiful, new couches.
