Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students come from so man backgrounds. Many of them have experienced some sort of trauma in their life. I want these materials to complete my calm down corner which will also double as a reading nook. Sometimes my students get overwhelmed or overstimulated and they just need a place to go to calm down. I am requesting the floor chair as a place to sit on the carpet when they need a quiet space. The pillows are to make the space feel more cozy and sometimes my students come in and just need to lay down in the morning before they can start their day.

I never know what my students experienced the morning of school or the night before and I want to create a safe space for them.

The fidgets will be used to help students calm down and take their mind of some of their stressors. The contact paper is to cover the wall so I can fill it with calming posters and strategies that students can use when they get in that heightened state.
