My students are scientists, authors, readers, explorers, leaders, and artists. They inspire me every day with their compassion and understanding. They seem to grasp the bigger picture with amazing clarity, and always humble me with their unique perspectives about the world around them.
I'm always challenged by their thinking - and teaching them to read, lead, and think is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
I'm thankful to lead them early in their life-long walk as leaders, learners, and future world changers. My hope as their classroom teacher is that they will leave my classroom with a sense of who they are, a love of learning, a passion for books, and thoughtful perspective about the world that they live in!
My Project
My students need a space in our classroom to cozy up with their reading. They need floor pillows, mood lighting, and baskets to organize our classroom reading corner in a visually pleasing, homey way. This will help create a book nook in our classroom for students to read and feel "at home" in our classroom library!
My first graders need to see how reading can be fun and enjoyable in all environments - creating a cozy space in our classroom will help them see that they can read at home in a cozy space, too!
I want to assist my students with their reading by making reading fun, exciting, and a comforting activity to do. For many of my students, reading is something that they only think to do at school. I'd like to challenge their thinking by encouraging them to see reading as a past-time that they can do and take with them ANYWHERE.
