Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our class consists of 12 amazing little boys and girls who have moderate to severe disabilities that include high sensory needs. Often times if their sensory needs are not met they become dysregulated and I am unable to gain and retain their attention. They are happy kids who are just seeking sensory any way they can.
Creating a cozy and sensory-friendly calming corner will provide my students the space they need to help regulate when needed.
The bookcase with cushions and sensory floor tiles will allow me to create a calming space within our classroom for the students who just need a break. Providing them with sensory feet cushions while in their seat will allow my students not only to remain seated, but the opportunity to access the curriculum.
