This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is located within a community that has many daily challenges and often cannot provide the most basic school supplies and furniture needed to run a classroom. I teach in a low income, special education classroom where hands-on learning is very important for the students in my classroom. My students do not have the resources to purchase the basic supplies we need.

Having very basic classroom supplies will allow my students to not think about what they do not have but experience learning through what they do within the classroom.

My Project

I work in a low income district where many of my students cannot provide their own school supplies. This year, our school supply list looks a little different. We need masks to help keep our students safe. We also need the same basic supplies that our students use every single year. These supplies include notebooks, sticky notes, and highlighters. The reading trackers will allow my students to stay on task when reading different text. These supplies will take a little bit of the burden off myself and my students. These may seem like basic supplies, however they can really help students learn.
