This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast, lunch and snacks. Many of my students are the recipients of food bags on the weekends, as well as other resources to meet their needs. I am constantly blown away by the way my students exhibit strength, compassion for others and enthusiasm for their own learning.
My students come to school ready to work, learn and grow their brains, despite anything else that may be going on in their lives.
My Project
In about one month, my students will finally have the chance to come to school in person! Some students will still be able to learn virtually, while other students may need to attend in person. In order to make my classroom as safe as possible, I am requesting a HEPA air filter to purify the airspace, replacement air filters, PPE for myself and co-teacher, and hand sanitizer.
My hope is that these air filters, PPE, and sanitizers will give parents some peace of mind during such a stressful time.
Furthermore, these items will be great additions to our classroom even after COVID as flu and other colds will continue to persist with young students. The air filter will help keep students healthier, prevent the spread of illness, and ultimately keep students in school where they can learn.
