This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that upon observing this class for the first time a few days ago, they were happy and still motivated despite not having the comfort or cozy environment. The children were very active, all over the place and a bit chaotic having no real seating accommodations. My first goal is to create a comfortable learning environment for them. I believe that once their space is comfortable, they will be more able to focus and have a better floor time routine. This rug will help them find a spot to sit rather than just plopping down anywhere on the cement floor, spinning around and moving all over. This rug will help me turn the transition to floor time from disorganized and chaotic to structured and routine. It will help them learn responsibility by finding the space they are told to find or that has their name tag on it, the same consistent routine, social and emotional development through peer connections finding their name or space, and set expectations.
