My Students

My classroom is part of the IB program, whose goal is to develop, "internationally minded people, who recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world." It is made up of a diverse group of learners. The community includes both regular and special education students. They are a group of bright individuals who are working hard to inspire others and make positive changes in the world through transdisciplinary learning.

My Project

All students should have the opportunity to see the greater world in the books that they read. This project will allow students who are mathematicians, scientists, activists, thinkers, and historians to build their knowledge of the world and the diverse people that live in it, in order to make a positive change!

It's important that the diverse and multicultural books in my classroom library feature a variety of cultures and inspiring stories that will promote social change.

We need to recognize the times we are living in and educate students on the world that they are a part of, as well as encourage students to love and accept themselves and others. This kind of understanding can only be achieved by educating children about the world outside their communities and empowering them to see themselves as agents of change.

These books will also help my students grow socially and emotionally. This growth will give them the confidence to go out into the world and be confident and inspiring role models.
