Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful kindergartners in a Title I school where many of my classroom families receive a free or reduced-cost lunch, come from low-income homes and are English Learners. Approximately 50% of my students are from these under-served families. My calling, as their teacher, is to not only lay the foundation of learning within their minds but to give them a stable learning environment.

My Project

My students have been in our classroom in 2021/22 school year. My wonderful students are such hard workers and they continue to grow each and every day. I have been creating a plethora of materials and digital lessons to engage my students with their learning. A positive take away from the COVID-19 virus is that students love to be in the classroom, something that many of them were not able to do because of the pandemic. Many of my students did not have the opportunity to attend preschool and I am striving to fill in the learning gaps that many of my students have. Here are the activities that I have planned with my materials in my project: 1)Stamps, paper for story math problems and Stamp Pads: My kids will be creating number sentences using the stamps in the stamp sets on their papers; 2) Post its, Mirrors and Magnets: Students will create numbers problems using magnets

and post its for writing numbers.

We will also be using our mirrors to learn double number addition. 3) Book Bags: Kids will be given counting book book collections to store in the book bags; 4). TPT Card, Number Swatters & Sentence strips: I will be creating digital and hands on learning and kids will use their swatters to interact with my digital counting, writing and reading activities that I will be creating with my kindergarteners. Please help give us these tools to bridge our learning gaps.
