I am the School Counselor at 3 very unique schools. My students all live in the mountains and attend schools with less than 50 other students in them. Most of these kiddos are isolated, especially with online learning, while others do not even have internet access. I would love to be able to supply my students with journals, writing utentsils and other school supplies to bridge the achievement gap.
My Project
Students at our school are unique in more ways than one. These students live in rural communities, often without internet or phone access. Many of my students are expected to help out around the house or the ranch as a part of their morning routines. These kiddos work so hard to level the playing field between themselves and their peers in town. They face unique challenges such as currently being evacuated for fires. These kids roll with whatever life throws at them and if we can help make their lives just a little easier, you bet that is what we are going to do.
My students will use their journals during my counseling lessons.
These journals will be used to reflect on the lesson and write down any questions or thoughts students might have. The markers and pencils will be used to jot down these thoughts and draw pictures related to our lessons.
The bookmarks will be reminders of how these students can accomplish anything they set their minds too. The stickers are used as behavior reinforcers for kiddos. The colored paper can be used in the kids journals and also to create projects together during our lessons.
