This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 23 of the most wonderful kids you have ever met! They are eager and excited to come to school and learn each day. Kindergarten is such a magical time in a child’s life with experiences that will shape their futures. Our class is working on communicating with one another, social relationships as well as academic progress. Some of my students attended k4 or Head Start but for many this is the first experience they have had in school.

As Robert Fulghum quoted "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten."

Our school is a Title I school that is a high poverty and a high need school. This year we have had budget cuts at our school and I cannot provide many of the resources that my classroom needs.

My Project

I love to listen and watch my children work cooperatively while they are working together to complete a puzzle. They develop a plan to solve the puzzle, they take turns and help each other solve problems as they arise. Sometimes when they begin working on a puzzle I will hear them say “I can't do this or I am not good at puzzles." The real joy is seeing when they do solve the puzzle. You can see them gaining a sense of accomplishment and a boost in their self-esteem.

Our puzzles are old and are missing pieces.

Our school has recently been faced with budget cuts. This effects how much money I have to spend on classroom materials. I know that having a puzzle center is important in my class because it increases physical, cognitive, and emotional skills. Your gracious donation will allow the children to continue to grow in these skills. My grandparents used puzzles, my parents, I, and now my students will get a chance to use them because of your kind gift. There is no mistaking the benefits of puzzles in early childhood development.
