Cosmic Bowling & PE Replacement Equipment

My students need colored disco balls to enhance our bowling unit along with a replacement wireless mic receiver so that we can still have fun and communicate while music is playing.

My Students

Our diverse campus is one of the largest in our district. We are a full Title I school with a significant portion of students enrolled in our bilingual program. This year’s data reveals that more than 64% of our students are considered at-risk and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Much of the resources at our school are focused on low-performing students; however, with new accountability guidelines including growth of achieving students, we realize the need to push all our students so that they can excel to the next level.

Despite all the challenges and obstacles that lay before our kids, we hope to provide them with an opportunity to learn about proper nutrition, goal setting, and fitness.

My Project

Communication is an important element in Physical Education. We are looking to replace a broken wireless microphone receiver so that we may continue to communicate throughout the gym instead of our current methods of running over to the radio to turn it down or appearing to talk over the music to get students' attention. We hope that this receiver will allow for quick reinforcements and positive praise.

As PE coaches, it's easy to get stuck playing the same games each and every year.

What that being said, we are looking to spice up our bowling unit along with assemblies by incorporating colored disco balls. We hope to use these colored disco balls for a Cosmic Bowling activity that changes the current way of doing things. However, these disco balls do not simply stop at our bowling unit, we want to incorporate them into other activities as well. We believe that something as simple and safe as these disco balls will inspire all students by peaking their interest thus eliminating any behavioral issues. Finally, we want to incorporate the colored disco balls into our four assemblies throughout the year. We hope these will put a fun spin on our assemblies and allow students to have fun while relaxing from the academic setting of the classroom.
