My Students

Third grade has always been the grade level I have wanted to teach! There is just something about the way they are so eager to learn and are just the right age to handle challenging tasks with teacher guidance that excites me.

Third graders are creative thinkers who love a challenge.

They enjoy hands-on activities and getting their hands dirty. They are excited to try new things and are willing to think outside the box. They are excited to come to school each day and tackle whatever is thrown their way in the world of education.

My Project

Often times in a home the kitchen table is where ideas are shared, days are discussed, and connections are made. For many students, this is an experience that they are not accustomed to due to busy lives, hectic schedules, or a shift in priorities. With table-centered instruction, I am hoping to bring to the classroom a family-like learning environment as the kitchen table does to many homes.

The table will serve as a gathering place where students will communicate with each other, build relationships, and grow as learners.

It is imperative that I meet with my third graders in both reading and math instruction. The kidney table will provide me with the opportunity to meet with my students in small groups often throughout the day. The students will also be able to work in cooperative learning groups on projects that involve research, STEAM, and other small group activities.
