I teach children with varying exceptionalities including some with specific learning disabilities, autism, vision impairment, and cerebral palsy. My students are at least two grade levels behind their same-age peers.
We are a Title I school, which means many of the children come from impoverished backgrounds.
They have parents who have many challenges. Many students are part of the Hunger Project, which helps feed them on weekends.
In my room, the students are able to work on their level and at the pace they need. We are trying to ensure that they get the most out of their education. My students work hard and they are eager and excited to learn.
My Project
My students need to have lots of time to play together. They learn to socialize properly, interact with each other in positive ways, and learn to share. We are looking for new things to encourage play. We would like the cash register and Smooth touch phone for make-believe time in their marketplace. We would love the Pound and Play Music Maker for the listening center. The students will be excited to receive Mini Construction Vehicles for the train center. These items will help the students work and play together.
