This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students explore the interdependence of plants, and animals, and the important roles plants have for life on Earth. As humans, we rely on plants in many ways – for food, shelter, clothing, and even the air we breathe – and the health of our planet relies on plants too.
We use plants as an entry point into conversations about a changing climate.
Plants slow down climate change since the CO₂ they take up does not contribute to global warming.
This project includes indoor plants and pots. Having the plants on hand in the classroom will allow the children hands-on experience as they learn how to care for plants and how plants help the environment.
