Help me give my students a comfortable space for learning. The cost of a new AC is out of reach for our school. In order to find a comfortable classroom, we often go from room to room.

My Project

If this project is funded, my students will be able to remain in the ELA classroom without having to relocate to another room simply to escape the heat. This disruption currently interrupts instruction, limits our ability to engage in meaningful learning activities, and takes valuable time away from students. A cooler classroom will provide a more comfortable and consistent learning environment where students can focus, participate, read, write, and collaborate. Most importantly, the air conditioner will allow us to maintain our classroom community and ensure that the physical environment supports, rather than hinders, learning.

Our classroom has become that space for many students who prefer to avoid the cafeteria.

It is more than a place for learning; it is a place where students feel a sense of belonging, community, and connection.

My students are Brooklyn teenagers who bring curiosity, personality, creativity, and individuality into our classroom every day. Many enjoy spending their lunch periods in the classroom, listening to music, reading manga, talking with friends, or simply having a quiet place to recharge. For many young people, finding a space where they feel comfortable and accepted can be challenging.
