We have a kitchen with the bare necessities. It is a challenge to teach cooking procedures, methods and techniques without the equipment and supplies needed.
My students are the best students in the state.
They are very outgoing and they are very eager to learn. They are always trying to stay on task to the best of their ability. Whatever I ask of them, they don't hesitate to respond. We are in a high school setting in the state of Mississippi.
I am requesting these supplies: butane burner gas canisters, rolling pins, mixing bowls, pasta makers, and culinary attire to enhance the education of my students. With these supplies, my students will be able to preform, master, and compete in future competitions. Learning to cook on a professional level is not an easy task when you have limited equipment that is not operable and students waiting for their turn to cook. Time management, organizational skills, and "mise en place" is vital in the food industry. These resources will develop the necessary skills needed in the culinary industry. I will be able to instruct more effectively with the necessary operable equipment on hand. The students will learn the fundamentals of professional cookery and the insight that comes from the experience.
A kitchen without the proper supplies is like baking bread without flour.
This request is so important for the students because we don't have the necessary supplies and equipment needed to teach the skills required to enter into the culinary field. With these new materials, I will be able to engage all of my students at the same time, and this will enable them to receive as much training as possible. With the proper supplies and equipment, we can produce positive results.
