Continuing a Series with Darkness Before Dawn

My students need 30 copies of Darkeness Before Dawn to finish the trilogy we started in class.

My Students

Have you ever been so challenged that you thought you wouldn't see it through to the end? My students knew we were entering the world of reading a trilogy, and they thought they would never accomplish it. Now, we are faced with challenge of getting the books so we can achieve our goal.

My students are awesome!

There is no other word to truly describe them. The class that is completing this project is my 7th grade AVID kids, and they are preparing themselves for college. My course is college readiness, and these students are challenging and gearing up for high school and college. They are first generation college ready students and are trying to focus on literacy and organization to make their dreams of being the first in their families to go to college.

My Project

This trilogy has changed the way my students view day to day issues. My students have read 1 1/2 of the trilogy and have learned valuable lessons about sexual and physical abuse, alcoholism, value of education and achieving and overcoming difficult situations in the face of turmoil. The discussions that are brought forth from these books triggers something in my students, and they have made declarations of bettering themselves by avoiding these same mistakes. Darkness Before Dawn will continue them down the path of building their characters up from the inside out!

This book will continue to open the eyes of my students.

They are faced with the same issues that occur in these books on a daily basis. Seeing the grown from watching characters is nothing short of amazing. This last book in the trilogy will give them a huge sense of empowerment, as they have finished the task at hand of reading a trilogy. Many of these kids come from illiterate homes, and now they are accomplishing something bigger than they thought possible!
