I work in a special education school, as a Speech Language Pathologist with children diagnosed with Autism PPD, Intellectual Disabilities, Speech and Language Delayed, Emotional Disturbance, and other developmental disorders. All of my students have communication difficulties that affect their expressive and receptive language skills.
My students are some of the happiest and most energetic children you will ever meet.
Many of them are looking for help to communicate with each other and interact with their peers and the adults who help them throughout the day. For me, working with my children is an absolute joy and I look forward to going to work each day. My day is complete when my children are happy, smiling, and communicating with others. They face many challenges throughout the day and if I can help them communicate those challenges in any way, shape, or form, I try my best to do so!
My Project
Education and the way we teach our students has been forever changed from the global pandemic we are currently experiencing. Educators are now able to access their students and provide education to them at any time. It is hard to find the positives in the world we are living in today. However, this new way of teaching will allow students to learn on snow days, extended sick days, and all emergency closures. There is no need to cancel learning with this new form of teaching we are learning to perfect.
With learning how to perfect "distant learning" I am in great need of new material to provide to my students.
As I stated before, I am a Speech Language Pathologist who works with an age range of students from 3-13. This wide age range calls for a variety of material. I run 8 sessions a day and need access to material very quickly. Teachers Pay Teachers is a great resource that helps to support students, as well as, the individuals making the products for us. There are so many new, interactive, and exciting resources being created every day for remote speech and language therapy, it's amazing. The materials I buy from Teachers Pay Teachers will be used during teletherapy to engage my students in interactive and productive ways. In addition, this material can be posted on the remote classrooms to have the student complete work that focuses on their expressive and language delays on their own time.
