My Project

It is important to make students know and feel that all are welcome in class. It is equally important to have an environment that allows students to see representation of who they are, and be a leading factor in how you teach, and in what they do. The materials that I have requested welcomes cultural diversity and brings awareness and inclusivity to every student who steps foot in my class. Through the culturally rich stories, students will get to see representation of themselves and learn about other students and their culture, learning a little more about who they are. Students will be exposed to rich and new vocabulary and will familiarize themselves with language and customs similar to their own.

Students will get to see, hear, listen, interact, and manipulate materials that reflects who they are, giving a sense of belonging.

With the build a family stacking blocks and the family group dolls, students will be able to enjoy playing and interacting with these materials, making items unique to themselves. Every family is different, and with these materials, students are given many possibilities to share and construct what and how family looks for them.

With the all are welcome floor puzzle, students are invited to work together, to expand on their cognitive, social, and fine motor skills, all while enjoying seeing children like themselves.

Funding this project isn't just putting materials in the class. When you fund this project, you let a child know that we see them for who they are, that a piece of them is embedded in what and how we teach; that they matter and we welcome them for who they are. Funding this shows students that we really thought about how to make them feel welcome and wanted in a new environment.
