My students need j Literacy STEM kits to help them comprehension and make connections from their reading to real life applications. The coding folder games and blueprints will provide my students a opportunity to problem solve.
My school feeds into 23 apartment complexes where most students live in high poverty and low income households. Although most of my students come from economically challenged homes, they come to school with smiles on their faces every day, ready to learn something new. Since so many of students live in apartments that are in not-so-safe neighborhoods, they don't get the opportunity to go outside to play.
My students are diverse, active, and eager to learn.
Their active bodies and minds need access to hands-on materials that they don't get at home. Being able to learn and explore with interactive centers will benefit them for years to come.
These STEM kits materials will give my students the ability to make connections between our reading and science. In second grade our first in unit in ELAR is about making connections and learning about Folktales.
The STEM kits will provide students an opportunity to take the story elements into a real world setting.
My students learn better when they can use their hands and create while they learn. The STEM kits will teach my students how to problem solve and what to do if their first plan doesn't work they way they planned. Integrating all subjects at once allows more time for exploration.
