You helped us create a student \"Kindness Store\" filled with plush toys, drawing boards, and other meaningful rewards that motivate kindness, self-control, and goal-setting every single day — and it has truly changed our classroom culture.\r\nHow we're using the new resources\r\nWe introduced our Kindness Store as part of our daily social-emotional learning routine. Students earn points throughout the week by demonstrating kindness, practicing self-control, completing their goals, and encouraging their classmates. On Fridays, they can visit the store to redeem their points.\r\nOne powerful moment happened during a group project when a student noticed a classmate struggling. Without being asked, he offered to help and even gave up his turn so his partner could share first. When I acknowledged his kindness, the entire class applauded. Later, he proudly added points toward earning a plush toy. It wasn't about the prize — it was about the recognition. The store has given students a tangible way to connect positive behavior with positive outcomes.\r\nStudent reactions\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the room erupted with excitement. Their eyes lit up when they saw the plush toys and drawing boards displayed on our shelves. But what stood out most wasn't just the excitement — it was the immediate shift in mindset. Students began asking, \"How can I earn that?\" and \"Can I set a goal today?\" They were motivated not just by rewards, but by the opportunity to grow.\r\nSome of my quieter students, who don't always receive academic recognition, have truly shined through acts of kindness and leadership. Seeing them beam with pride as they select an item from the store has been incredibly moving.\r\nWhat's next\r\nWe are now expanding this into a \"Goal-Getter Challenge,\" where students will set personal academic and character goals for the month. They'll track their progress, reflect in writing journals, and celebrate milestones together. We're also incorporating peer nominations so students can recognize one another for acts of kindness and perseverance.\r\nYour support did more than provide materials it built confidence, strengthened our classroom community, and empowered students to make positive choices daily. You gave them more than a store; you gave them ownership of their growth.\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts, thank you for investing in our students and believing in the power of kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1762871004544,"projectUrl":"project/motivating-minds-a-classroom-store-to-s/9459511/","projectTitle":"Motivating Minds: a Classroom Store to Support Social-Emotional Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10077418"},{"teacherId":3216090,"projectId":9683331,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my DonorsChoose project.
