Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 4th and 5th grade math. My students are English Language Learners. English is not their first language.

My students LOVE math! If they had it their way, they would learn math all day! Since English is not their first language, they feel comfortable learning math because they are familiar with numbers. I want to keep them excited about the subject.

Since my students love math so much, I want them to see math as something that will help them outside of school. Reading literature about math will help them see when they might use math in real life situations.

You will make help it possible for my students to be motivated to keep learning math and hopefully go on to careers where math is definitely needed.
