Help me give my students an opportunity to gain insight into the future of college experiences by Zooming with current college students using the the headphones for no interruptions and to speak clearly to others using the microphone.
My students range from grades 9-12th. Our school is one of four high schools in our community. We have close to 1000 students at our high school. The make up of our school is 60% African Americans to 40% Caucasians. We have some students who are homeless, we have some who are living in poverty, and some whose family are middle income. Some of the parents are working and some are currently unemployed. I have many students who are work after school to help meet financial needs for their families.
The students in class deserve to have the best opportunities available for their learning styles.
There are different ways to expose students to diversity, and the benefits of working together, accepting differences, being kind to one another, and how to develop each other's learning styles.
My Project
Future...Connect2U will connect high school and university students to provide and gain an insight into the future. College students will share their personal stories and lessons they have learned from their college experiences. Students will be able to use the headphones as they zoom with college students without interruptions. This will not only focus on state colleges and universities but historically black colleges and universities as well as private schools.
Our goal is promote diversity and inclusion as well as developing interest and knowledge of their college life and experiences.
These opportunities will help students at our high school to not only get information from their school guidance counselors, but hear firsthand from current college students about admissions, financial aid office, culture, leadership and volunteer opportunities and more real life situations.
