Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a class of middle school special needs students with autism and intellectual disabilities. They are preparing to transition to high school and much of our day-to-day classwork is wrapped in both academic and social-emotional learning.
These students are incredibly special in more ways than one, and deserve access to the tools they need to help them succeed!
Considerate and thoughtful, each child cares deeply about the others (and teachers) in class. Curious about learning, they love to ask questions and know more about everything they're studying!
My Project
I am a teacher for middle school special needs students in the South Bronx.
We have brilliant minds inside this underfunded school, and I want to help them have access to technology in the classroom!
When I came to my classroom to set up this August, I did not have a single tablet of computer available for student use. Currently, my kids patiently wait until Friday mornings to enter the coveted "technology class" (or what they call simply, "computers"). In the few months with these children, it is clear that technology in ESSENTIAL to their learning process. Please help me fund my project to bring tablets into my class, which will be used by different students for YEARS to come!
