Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nestled in the heart of a large area of New York is an elementary school with students who have great potential in becoming successful citizens in today’s society. Our school is a Title I school located in a high-needs area.

Our school population is comprised of general education students, as well as students with individual education plans.

Our students are inquisitive and energetic. They are curious about the world around them and are always looking for ways to improve our environment. Our students have a passion for technology and hands-on learning.

My Project

Students will be able to use the iPod touch and to work on coding projects using the programming language Scratch.

Our goal is for every student in the school to have the opportunity to learn computer science, and to reach balanced representation in grades K-5.

The power stations will be used to keep our robots and other devices charged. The batteries will be used for our STEAM gadgets. The hand-held vacuums will be used to clean up after our students are done with their activities. The drills will be used for our woodworking projects. The lighting will help with poorly lit sections within our STEAM LAB. Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Engineering) curriculum encourages problem-solving and exploratory learning by presenting our students with different challenges that can have many solutions.
