My students need a creative approach to understanding Coding and Encoding. This Edu Breakout Challenge is reusable, and provides students with an opportunity to solve coding riddles, and math concepts to move from clue to clue.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine inspiring minds, changing futures, and giving new hope to students that have all the odds stacked against them. Yes, you can change direction and access to opportunities for my students. I know how amazing, resilient, and talented my students are. 98% of my school is on Free and Reduced lunch.
Help this English Teacher turned Computer Scientist, help her innovative and inquisitive Computer Scientist fulfill their research and exploration dreams!
I have students who are inspired, are pushing their academic skills, but we need the tools to make it a reality!
My Project
We are asking for a reusable kit for an EDUC breakout style lesson series, meaning it will apply to more than one lesson. It is an engaging and collaborative manner of providing students an opportunity to think critically and collaboratively.
It is a memorable, and an authentic learning experience!
Student teams will use a Caesar Cipher to decode riddles that open word lock combinations, that house the next puzzle or coded clue/location. Each clue is contained within it's own red clue box. Each clue lead student teams to the final treasure chest that with holds final Cipher. The reward is the journey, and ability to persevere and think critically! They will then take this experience and create their own, and apply their experience to Python Programming! We have built our kit that we can reuse for various subject matters. If things go well, we envision a school-wide math based challenge. We just want an opportunity to try out the system, and see it's effectiveness in the classroom.
