I am CS teacher that hails from the land of literature...transformed English Teacher, because I wanted my student to have access to the future. Yes, I am willing and enthusiastically pushing myself through a CS certification for AWESOME students! We are working on our 20% Genius hour projects. Projects that Ms. R. can't teach on a one-on-one basis, things my students wished they taught at school but no one does. They have put in the legwork, pitched their ideas, created self-guided learning plans...email their teacher at 2 am in morning to make sure their Python code works properly. My students need access to these supplies and materials in order to complete their learning, it is one thing to work in theory. It is life changing to work with reality. 20% Project/Genius Hours does just teach one student selected skill, it teaches them to think and become life-long learners, besides the English Teacher in me loves that is writing too! The list may seem a little odd, but it is cohorts of students working together to obtain academic knowledge. So yes the projectors will be used by one team to display their apps built on open source MITappbuilder, the LEGOS have home with 2 teams, and even Ozo Bots, and Wonder Bots will meet in students robot summit. Some are working on circuits, many on robotics, others deepening Python knowledge, and some are working on Apps. They have done the heavy lifting and academic investigation. Help me, help them turn knowledge into practice.Believe me, when I say, I teach them to walk and they show me they can run!
