Computer Mice Make Learning Nice

Help me give my students computer mice to use during daily instruction and testing!

My Students

We were able to do in-person school all last year. We did this by wearing masks all year. While we were all grateful to be in school, we were even more grateful this year to be able to see our student's faces. Because students were able to come to school without masks if they chose, there was a lot of excitement from students for attending school.

I have such an amazing group of students that I am privileged to work with each day!

My students live in a rural community in Northern Utah. They come from all walks of life and personal backgrounds. Most of my students have enough, but not much extra. But regardless of personal circumstances, my students of come to school this year with a positive attitude and a thirst for learning.

My Project

Most of our learning in 6th grade is done on Chromebooks. Much of our science curriculum is accessed through Canvas and is computer based. Our language arts program is tested online. Our math program is also digital.

We are so grateful to have 1:1 access to Chromebooks.

However, it is often difficult for students to navigate without a computer mouse. This is especially difficult on older Chromebooks - these mice pads tend to get touchy and difficult to use.

Finally, our state testing at the end of the year is all done on Chromebooks. It is much easier for students to navigate these tests with a mouse than with a Chromebook mousepad. If they make mistakes in clicking, or dragging and dropping, it is difficult to fix. An external mouse makes this much easier and more accurate.
