I service a wonderful group of students at a small school with less than 300 students. Despite the school being a Title I school in a high poverty area, my students attend school daily full of hope and passion. They are always smiling and in uplifting moods early in the morning! They enjoy hearing stories about different cultures around the world and they are very curious about different ways in which individuals can travel.
Despite their financial struggles, the parents of my students do the best that they can to participate in different school activities that the school is hosting.
The students participate in our book fairs, fall festival, cancer walks and more! They enjoy lunch bunch which entails having lunch with me and watching movies during our very short lunch break. Their hope gives me hope!
The HP laptops will be used as assistive technology and for a blended learning environment. With a total of 40 students and only 9 laptops, many of the students are not afforded the opportunity to interact with technology in a way that will benefit them in middle school. Education is constantly evolving and technology plays a huge role!
A blended learning environment helps students to complete more task, gain independence and take responsibility for their own learning!
With additional laptops, half of the class can work with the teacher, while the other half, works independently on their laptops. The students get to experience self directed learning while they work independently.
At the end of the school year, the students use laptops for speech and debate projects, autobiographies, novel/author studies and much more. It will also help us increase our options in our small classroom library. We can definitely use more laptops!
