90% of my students have attended the school since kindergarten. They are now in 5th grade and this is their last year at the school as they will be moving on to middle school. The school has not produced a yearbook in almost 10 years! This year my students want to be the first in a long time to create their first yearbook. This project will help my students to practice and improve their creative writing skills, they will learn the importance of skills required to produce and publish literature. It will teach them responsibility, organization, budgeting and teamwork. The camera will allow them to capture moments in real time as they will play a big role in taking the pictures and editing them as well. This is something that they will surely be proud of. The final copy of the yearbook will be their gift to themselves, their parents and the rest of the school. They will have something tangible to take with them when they leave this school year; a memories that will last a lifetime.
