This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Technology is such an integral part of the lives of our students. Yet, our classrooms still operate the old fashioned way. I want to build a technology corner in my classroom to give my students the opportunity to explore and challenge themselves.
My students are a wondrous group of students.
They reside in the poorest congressional district in the United States. For most, it is a challenge to simply come to school everyday. But they are resilient and do not let life's difficulties get in the way of their learning.
My Project
Almost all of my Donorschoose projects have been technology related. I want to give students the resources they need to challenge themselves. I want them to be able use the internet to discover their own learning. I want them to use technology to become independent thinkers. Students can research their own topics. They can use the computer and the internet to explore mathematics. I want to expand their thinking by engaging them in what is relevant to their lives.
I want to incorporate technology in my teaching.
Lack of city funding for education does not allow me to properly engage my students. Another computer in the room will allow me to utilize the internet and computer programs to challenge my students and expand their interest in mathematics.
