I am lucky enough to teach 25 adorable and hardworking students who come from diverse ethnic and financial backgrounds, and they all come to learn.
My classroom is designed around my students, and it is truly all about them.
I designed my classroom around my students, and this pandemic is helping me better meet their health needs by truly thinking outside the box.
My students are treated as little humans who can make their own decisions when it comes to learning, including decisions about the physical environment in which they learn best. I have high expectations and set individualized goals for each student.
While one student is working on mastering grade-level curriculum, another is being challenged at their own level and working on a fourth-grade educational experience. Please help me on my journey to do this by supporting our project!
My Project
I am requesting two touchscreen tablets with keyboards. Current classroom situation: EVERYTHING is online, even homework help and differentiated instruction. This is truly amazing during the school day BUT, once the kids go home it presents the same old problem... the HAVES and the HAVE-NOTS! The HAVES, well they have computers at home, they have parents that will help with homework struggles and someone at home that will ensure that they get the assignments done. The HAVE-NOTS, have none of this, they are at such a disadvantage, and often-times, they are the kiddos that need the extra help the most. They are also the kids who want to learn and if they had the access the others had, they would spend their time at night catching themselves up! Unfortunately, the have-nots are also my babies who cannot get a ride home if I offer to stay after school to help.
Please help me close the money gap and give each and every kiddo a chance to use a computer at home to help them catch up academically and close that gap themselves!
If my students have a tablet, they can use Khan Academy, Mr. Math Blog, and the online version of their math books to complete their homework. They can even access our online tutoring program through the district which offers Zoom one-on-one sessions for 15 minutes at a time every single day of the week, for FREE! As a bonus, my struggling readers will be able to access thousands of online books that will read to them and teach them tracking skills as well!
