Keeping our students healthy and happy is an important step in the learning process. With this air purifier we will be able to remove toxins from the air in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe have been discussing the importance of clean air, so it will be perfect for them to see a real air purifier in action. They will learn the science behind how air purifiers reduce the risk of transmission of viruses and feel much safer in the classroom. My students will be amazed that this purifier can can remove over 99% of contaminants from the air, including the respiratory droplets coming from talking, singing, and breathing which spread the illnesses.\r\n\r\nMany of my students have allergies and are more susceptible to illnesses. We cannot wait to see their eyes open big and wide and their huge smiles as they utilize these resources. They will love this area and it will help them succeed. Fortunately, Donorschoose and all my wonderful donors have helped me work alongside our behavior specialist to create a calming sensory room in our classroom.\r\n\r\nHaving done plenty of research on autism and sensory needs, the various bean bags and sensory items will allow our students to refocus and calm, while they keep actively engaged in the learning process.\r\n\r\nWe have many other small sensory items which allow the students to regain their focus and calm down. I am also grateful to my donors that I had the opportunity to provide my students with these strategies and supplies. I look forward to setting up my next project. Within my classroom, I have students in need of various supports, such as opportunities for increased movement and the use of fidgets and/or stress toys. Through the use of wobble chairs, I am now able to give students the opportunity to move in class in a way that is safe, causes minimal distractions, and allows its use to occur synchronously with learning. When my students entered the classroom to see their new chairs, they were ecstatic, because who doesn't love fun seating!\r\n\r\nNow with my transformed small group space, I can continue to work closely with students to meet their needs, addressing as many as possible!
